In an effort to make Diablo ii work on my macbook air, my child, who is generally a very trustworthy steward of the admin rights, installed a deprecated version of the drivers as described in the thread:

Somehow he missed the big red box that said don't do this on 10.5.5. 🙂
Tthings worked okay with a few quirks. I tried to use the uninstaller that came with the package and that's when things went to crap. After putting the original drivers back in place, the system boot would stop when the graphics interface tried to load. No errors, just a blue screen and nothing (not as informative as a BSOD).
I was able to boot the system from the Install disk and use terminal to recopy the deprecated drivers into the /System/Library/Extensions directory. It comes up now, but not everything works right. I get errors about extensions not loading, and several options like dimming the display do not work at all.
